Our young competitors dominated their return to speedway with the introduction of the well organised junior development program. Top star, Harrison Turnbull took out the most improved award as he took out four of the nine feature wins in his division, received six heat wins and took out the championship points. The junior development program, managed by the Darwin junior sedan club has been instrumental in providing equipment, guidance and training to our junior competitors and their family and extremely proud of the first year outcomes achieved.
Supporting junior development in Speedway, Caiden Davidson Weaver was presented with the junior encouragement award as a driver who has shown promise and eagerness throughout the 2021 season.
Victorian, Todd Moule relocated to Darwin at the commencement of the season with his family and completed his first season in a Sprintcar after making a huge transition from Junior Sedans. Over the season, Todd received two podium wins and finished in third place in the overall division championship which included participating in one of Australia’s most competitive Sprintcar series, the Ostojic Chariots of Thunder.
The Rookie of the Year went out to none other than River Spitzbarth who dominated the Junior Sedans division this year winning both the Darwin and Katherine title, came in third for overall point score and had 11 heat wins at Northline Speedway.
